Gut decision making is problematic..if you like workplace style cartoons, there is a cartoon that is pretty funny that takes a jab at gut decision making, the main character, without naming it, asks, which part of your gut is the smart part, is it the lining or the colon. The role of research in business context is to De-risk decisions. It does this by providing logic to arguments and ensuring that the slow decision making gets its due. Logic is the most critical aspect of any kind of strategic thinking and framework. This is why you need a deliberate process of researching thoroughly and having organizational framework where they are considered with due weight before making decisions.
